Erickson’s proposals for holiday homework

Erickson’s proposals for holiday homework

The nightmares of pupils, parents and even teachers, holiday homework is a hot topic as we approach the end of the school term and start to argue about whether it is a good idea to set it or not.

In favour or against homework? Some people believe that students deserve a break after the school year, and some others who think that a holiday without homework might compromise what children have learnt over the school year.

Considering these different points of view, Erickson offers a series of books presenting a new approach useful for an easy transition from kindergarten to primary school, from primary school to lower secondary school, and in the end for revising contents of lower secondary school.

HOLIDAY ESSENTIALS

Summer is made for playing… and for learning through fun! Created by Carlo Scataglini, and in line with the The Essentials folders for primary and secondary school, these holiday workbooks are the perfect summer companions: simple and engaging exercises, fun games, and plenty of illustrations to colour, to keep young minds active — without ever getting bored!
Revising language, maths, and other subjects becomes child’s play, thanks to illustrated activities that help reinforce key concepts, stickers and milestones to collect, and large fonts and clear instructions that make reading and understanding easier for everyone.
Each book also includes a set of coloured pencils to complete the activities.

SUMMER ADVENTURES

The holiday homework project by Daniela Lucangeli. Thanks to these colourful and fun-filled workbooks, children from Year 1 to Year 5 of primary school can consolidate the key knowledge gained during the school year and start the new term with greater confidence. Each book offers a wide range of activities enriched with games, making learning a playful experience that can be enjoyed alone or together with an adult. It’s especially important that learning is associated to positive emotions, particularly during the holiday period.
Each volume includes one story and eight sections of exercises, covering eight summer weeks of language, maths, history, geography, science, and English.

THE MONELLI FAMILY GOES ON VACATION

Loads of fun exercises to revise and reinforce learning in language, maths, science, English, history, and geography. The cheerful characters of the Monelli family (Mammina, Papino, Cia, Pippi, and Lamis) accompany primary school children on a 70-day journey. Day by day, children are free to choose which page to complete, without having to follow a set order — making learning feel light, flexible, and fun!

PLAYFUL LEARNING

From the teacher Camillo Bortolato, the book and exercise book for helping children during the summer holidays using the revolutionary analogical method.
This isnt the usual, boring brush-up workbook, it is a set of cut-out cards collected in nice envelops that you will be able to always carry with you.
During car journeys to reach summer holiday destinations, or under a beach umbrella or the shade of a tree in the mountains, or at home before going to bed, children can revise what they have learnt whilst having fun and challenging friends.

BRAIN TEASER GAMES

Languages, maths, history, geography, and science take on a new look: Brain Teaser Games are activity workbooks packed with engaging puzzles and plenty of tasks to help children review and consolidate their learning from the past school year. Each volume takes children on an exciting journey to discover places, cultures, and people in an intercultural context.
Each book is divided into two parts:

  1. The first part, richly illustrated, offers fun puzzle games to prepare the backpack before setting off on the adventure;
  2. The second part includes more activity sheets to accompany children throughout the journey.
