The creative writing box

50 ideas to bring into the classroom

Ivan Sciapeconi, Eva Pigliapoco

The Creative Writing Box is a “narrative toolbox” designed to help children aged 7 and up discover the joy of writing. Created from the direct classroom experience of two teachers, it offers a playful, inclusive and stimulating approach to writing, making every activity accessible and engaging.

It is an ideal tool for:

  • making writing an engaging and enjoyable activity;
  • developing textual skills progressively;
  • offering inclusive and differentiated activities;
  • encouraging every child to express their own voice.

Inside the box are 50 activity cards divided into three levels of difficulty: from the simplest tasks that unlock imagination to more complex challenges for creating original narrative texts.

HOW TO USE THE CONTENTS

The cards provide a wide range of fun and creative prompts — changing a story’s point of view, merging characters from different fairy tales, mixing titles, inventing new settings, rewriting lists…

Each activity can be carried out individually, in small groups or with the whole class, and can be easily adapted to the students’ starting level and specific needs. The accompanying guide offers practical suggestions for integrating the cards into flexible, personalised teaching paths, suitable even for informal or home learning contexts.
