Teo and Tea at the seaside and in the mountains

Teo and Tea at the seaside and in the mountains

Written using the Inbook model — with Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) symbols — this book is designed for primary school children with communication difficulties, language disorders or special educational needs. AAC makes the narrative accessible and understandable even for children with limited language skills, fostering genuine inclusion rather than simple adaptation.

The story follows two young protagonists, Teo and Tea, through two short episodes set in familiar, easily recognisable environments: the seaside and the mountains. These settings were chosen not only for their rich sensory qualities, but also for their educational and symbolic value:

  • The sea represents openness, exploration and movement, encouraging curiosity and discovery.
  • The mountains, by contrast, evoke stability, achievement and growing self-awareness.

Through these environments, children are guided to observe natural and social elements, recognise sounds, colours, smells and sensations, and connect the narrative experience with their own personal and sensory world.

Each story is complemented by carefully designed activities that reinforce and extend the themes explored in the narrative. The proposed activities stimulate multiple areas of development — linguistic, cognitive, emotional and sensory — while offering flexible opportunities for individual or group work.
