HISTORY MYSTERIES

A journey through fun challenges and puzzles to discover how our ancestors lived
Elisabetta Grassi
Illustrated by Enrico Pierpaoli

THE SERIES

History Mysteries is a series consisting of 3 comic-style workbooks aimed at pupils in 3rd, 4th and 5th grades of primary school.
Each volume offers young readers the opportunity to take a fun journey through time and review the main topics of Prehistory, Ancient Egypt and Ancient Greece. In a context of playful, motivating and active learning, children will also be able to enhance concentration and logic skills.
Concentration and logical thinking are stimulated through gradual and motivating activities, inserted in a narrative context able to excite and involve young readers. Although not a historical text, the narrative proposed within each volume respects the chronology of events, the likely reconstruction of the surroundings and characters and the transmission of historical information relating to the period being studied. By having fun and identifying with the narrated events, children will have the opportunity to build their knowledge, further their understanding or review some fundamental concepts of the historical reference framework.

CONTENTS

Each notebook in the History Mysteries series offers:

  • a comic narration starring Gaia and her monkey Tula, who are magically catapulted into the past and involved in an important mission;
  • summary sheets relating to the historical period covered;
  • a description of interesting characters from the past, each with specific skills and knowledge;
  • numerous exercises and puzzles to solve;
  • stickers corresponding to the skills of the characters, with which to complete the chart at the end of the book and solve the mission.

Together with Gaia and Tula, children can:

  1. complete the exercises to collect the stickers which correspond to the various skills;
  2. stick the stickers on the chart at the back of the book;
  3. paste a “wildcard” sticker corresponding to the abilities possessed by each character on the chart. Once the character with the highest number of stickers has been identified, the mission can be declared complete.
