FORMULAND

A fun, cooperative and inclusive game designed to facilitate the learning and application of mathematical formulas in solving problems in planar geometry, fractions and percentages.

The game contains a series of compensatory tools indicated to facilitate teaching children with Special Educational Needs. The graphic hooks on the cards, in fact, facilitate the association of problems, formulas and numbers and above all allow you to exploit visual learning.

Contents of the box

1 Gameboard

106 cards divided into four different categories (Problem, Number, Mystery, Territory)

4 character tokens

2 reference sheets

8 formula strips

Teaching objectives

  • Consolidate learning of planar geometry, perimeter and area of the square, rectangle, triangle, circle and rhombus;
  • Enhance percentage calculation strategies;
  • Strengthen calculation strategies for fractions and proportions.

How to play

Players must explore all 12 territories of the Kingdom of Formuland, solve problems and earn magical items that will be used to free the Magic Formulary. To solve each problem, players can use the available tools of their choice: the formula strips, the numbers to complete the formulas, and the reference sheets. Once the result has been obtained, it is verified by comparing the color code of the paper with the frame of the board.

The knights (i.e. all the players) win when all the territories have been conquered before the brambles have covered the Magic Formulary. The enemy wins if the Magic Formulary is covered with 4 Bramble cards.

Gameboard and self-correction

The gameboard on which the game takes place has colored edges that players can use for self-correction: to check the result, just bring the edge of the problem card closer to the board and observe if the colored codes match. In that case, the solution will be correct.
