65 cards to explore fairy tales and ourselves
R. Tiziana Bruno
Fairy Tale Journal is an educational game that combines the structure of traditional fairy tales with personal expression, designed to develop narrative thinking, writing skills, and emotional and social competences. Based on the work of Vladimir Propp, the game helps children and young people explore their own personal stories using fairy tale archetypes.
Using the cards and suggested activities, players can create and analyse stories, reflecting on personal and shared themes, thus enhancing their emotional well-being, relationships, and self-expression skills.

How to play
The game mechanics are based on the discovery of fairy tale archetypes and their reinterpretation through writing. Players draw cards representing narrative functions, characters, and symbols, and use them to create stories that reflect their inner experiences. The diary becomes a tool for collecting thoughts and insights, both on an individual and group level.
At the end of the game, the Diary is shared. Each participant reads their own notes and listens to those of others, uncovering common threads and connections that are often hidden beneath the surface.
