Teachers, educators and school psychologists can do a lot to prevent and combat cyberbullying.  This volume proposes a programme divided into five learning units for lower secondary school students with comparison and reflection activities which can be conducted in the classroom by psychologists, but above all by teachers and educators, to develop an awareness in the students when using social media.  In particular, the proposed intervention has the following objectives:

  • improve internet safety, particularly social networks;
  • understand the phenomenon of cyberbullying, also clarifying the difference with bullying;
  • define the different roles involved in the episodes of aggression with particular attention to the responsibility of the single individual;
  • promote feelings of empathy and the identification of coping strategies.

In addition to a detailed description on how to follow the programme, the volume offers:

  • Activity cards: starting from real situations intended to encourage children to reflect on everyone’s role (there is not only victim and bully, there are also spectators and accomplices) and on coping strategies (what to do to contain the situation);
  • Appendix containing the normative references.
