The book presents an innovative open teaching program focused on learning maths and geometry for Year 3, 4 and 5 of primary school: it provides useful materials and indications for teachers to carry out the activities through cards, markers and a journey map. Inserted in the narrative frame of a train journey in Japan, the stages include training in calculations, unit of measurement, problems and plane geometry

  • methods of implementation and teaching purposes;

is positioned within the broader framework of open teachingcentered on the concept of “autonomy”, in which the teacher plans a series of activities and each pupil becomes the protagonist of their own learning.
With this methodology, many different approaches can be proposed for learning the contents, alternating hands-on activities with games and classic exercises on worksheets, in predefined “stage” circuits.
