Thanks to the knowledge available today, the number of children with an early identified language delay is constantly increasing. It is therefore necessary to think of strategies to promote the acquisition of vocabulary and the construction of sentences, and support the understanding of language, encouraging the exchange of communication with peers.
The volume is divided into two parts: the first chapters frame the typical and atypical development of language. In the second part some clinical cases of children presenting a speech disorder of various natures are presented.
This allows us to suggest activities and practices that naturally fit into the everyday life of nursery school, with the aim of:
• facilitating conversation through interactions between peers
• stimulating language, dialogue reading and play
• promoting narrative skills
• supporting development in situations of bilingualism.
The aim is to suggest operational strategies specifically focused on the nursery school context, which maximize on the teachers’ and speech therapists’ skills and the important potential in this context, and to optimize the educational path of all children.
The volume is accompanied by information sheets for observation and reflection on educational and interaction dynamics, also available online.
