FIRST LEAPS IN READING – The series

Camillo Bortolato

First leaps in reading is a series of six volumes intended to bring children aged 3 and up closer to reading. The pleasure of reading is experienced, even independently, with the utmost spontaneity, based on the pupil’s readiness, curiosity and rhythm.

In each volume you can find:

  • a story with the characters from Pitti’s world, characterized by short and simple sentences;
  • new words to discover, related to the specific vocabulary of each title;
  • the alphabet strip, which is incorporated at the end of each book and can be consulted during the reading;
  • cheery and engaging illustrations, which assist the child in contextualizing the story by creating a tie between the images and reality.

THE AUTHOR

Camillo Bortolato is a pedagogist and teacher with over 40 years experience in primary schools. In addition to teaching, he has for many years been intensely involved in research on methodologies and teaching tools for mathematics. He is particularly interested in designing tools which make teaching easier and school less heavy going for teachers, pupils and parents. He believes that we will all learn to “understand at a glance” when school learning becomes like learning about life, which is all about love, passion and hard work. With Erickson he has made several tools and published a number of books on how to apply the analogical method, which plays on the innate intuition of children in order to turn the learning process into a spontaneous one.
