The most recent ministerial legislation regarding pupils with SEN marks further progress towards school inclusion, broadening and differentiating the range of educational needs to which targeted intervention needs to be provided. However, families are not always aware of the repercussions of these new laws on school success and teaching methodology programmes, nor are they aware of what they should ask and what action to action to take with the school, following, for example, a diagnosis of a specific learning disorder.
The result of years of direct professional practice, the book aims to help parents:
• remain up-to-date on legislative changes concerning SLD;
• be able to recognise risk factors and symptoms;
• be aware of the answers a specialist must provide at the end of the diagnostic procedure;
• share Personalised Education Plans with teachers;
• manage the delicate task of homework;
• prevent any secondary effects of the disorder on emotional, motivational and relational levels.
Written for families, the book can also provide psychologists and teachers with practical suggestions and a wide overview of teaching tools and remedial interventions, above all due to unambiguous language and an array of practical suggestions and expert advice.
