Offering children a single story gives them an incentive to read. Thrilling them. The book, which narrates the adventures of a robin whom we have already met in Pitti&#8217;s Little Story, is a story for learning how to read without any preliminary exercises, as you go along, just as children like best. If you are having trouble just use the Alphabet strip or the Reading keyboard, which are the essential reference tools for reading. <\/p>\n<p class=\"maggio23\">Another aspect which characterises this book is the sub-division of words into \u00abreading units\u00bb: a sort of \u00absubitizing\u00bb applied to reading, where the words are divided into groups of letters, as is done with dots in mental calculation. In this way, the child&#8217;s eyes will not roam around long words in order to understand what to make of them. The grammatical rules of syllables are generally followed, except in the event of words which are long or difficult to pronounce (for example, sce\/n\/do\/no, mo\/stra\/r\/lo). It is not intended as a replacement  for the child&#8217;s individual exercise book, instead it offers a daily programme to follow for the first few months of school.   <\/p>\n<p class=\"maggio23\">By concentrating the teaching of reading into a shorter time frame, teachers can dedicate themselves more systematically to writing activities. This little exercise book acts as a guide and should be explored and enriched day by day.<br \/>\nThe little exercise book performs various functions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a model for the work to be carried out and completed in the child&#8217;s individual exercise book over the first few months, preventing confusion occurring in learning how to read. Reading must remain in the field of mental tasks as it is \u00aba visual task\u00bb;<\/li>\n<li>it is a mini-guide for pupils to consult as needed;<\/li>\n<li>it is a daily reference for teachers for the handwriting side of things (right hand side of the little exercise book);<\/li>\n<li>it provides inspiration for drawing activities, in order to align the times of children who finish first with those who finish after (left hand side);<\/li>\n<li>it suggests exercises for homework;<\/li>\n<li>involving the parents in the programme of the first few months;<\/li>\n<li>The little exercise book is not intended to replace the child&#8217;s individual exercise book for Italian.
