TANDEM

TANDEM

Pair-based activities for primary school

In the classroom… you pedal together!

Tandem has arrived: a brand-new series of activity books for Year 3, designed to turn school subjects into a fun and active collaborative experience. Just like riding a tandem bike, every activity is completed in pairs and each is split into two separate sheets: sheet A (more advanced) and sheet B (simplified). One pupil leads with ideas, the other gives strength through writing — and together they reach the goal.

Each volume includes 39 activities dealing with school subjects (such as language, history, geography, maths, science and technology) and based on cooperative learning.

Worksheet A – More advanced

Worksheet B – Simplified

The two worksheets complement each other, encouraging individual responsibility and positive interdependence. In fact, no activity can be completed alone!

Student 1 will start the activity working to task n. 1 and, following the instructions provided, interacts with student n. 2, completing his/her own task n. 1. The activity will continue with Student 1 working to task 2 and cooperating with Student 2 and his/her task 2. So on and so forth until the end of the last task required.

HOW WORKSHEETS ARE STRUCTURED:

Each activity has two objectives: one curricular and one socio-emotional. The objectives are shown at the beginning of each page through a set of icons:

Active listening

Taking turns

Respecting other’s opinions

Expressing one’s own opinion

Asking for help

Offering help

Recognising other’s strenghts

Reaching an agreement

A helmet-shaped label to write the pupil’s name on

Each worksheet contains between 2 and 4 activities, indicated by asymbol

At the end of each page, there is a small space dedicated to each child’s self-assessment.
