This new edition of Battery for Developmental Dyscalculia, which was originally published in 2004, becoming a reference point for Italian clinicians, has been updated in line with new scientific knowledge on Dyscalculia and according to guidelines on SLD, has a simplified data processing procedure and targets a greater age range. It aims to enable clinicians to determine the presence of a number processing and calculation disorder in primary school pupils (the last three years) and lower secondary school pupils.

It is divided into three areas:

  • numerical processing, with counting and numerical transcoding tasks;
  • calculation, with tests which assess the ability to process algebra symbols, retrieve arithmetic facts and perform written and mental calculations;
  • sense of number, with tests which investigate semantic aspects of numerical processing and calculation.

The battery also includes a logical-mathematical problem-solving test.  The BDE2 contains mandatory and optional tests, the complete version can be administered in approx. 35-40 minutes and allows scores to be obtained in each test and in each of the three areas as well as a total score.

The enclosed software contains the software needed for automatic data processing and printable record sheets for examiner and subject.
