An inquiry into the meaning of social work: this is the aim of the present book published both in English and in Italian. The occasion for the investigation has been the revision of the Global Social Work Definition Revision approved in Montreal in 2000 by the two main international social work organizations (IASSW and IFSW). The volume has the ambition to analyze the «mystery» of social work, i.e. the impossibility to define it in one simple sentence. While the purpose of all the other health professions is clear, that of social work is not. Relational theory is therefore used to point out the ambiguities and limits of the present Definition and to suggest possible alternative formulations.
