The software contains activities taken from Prevention and treatment of difficulties with numbers and calculation, a collection of paper-based tools which has been re-adapted here in a multimedia format to be used on a computer.
A programme of recreational activities which aim to help children learn or hone knowledge and integration of the concept of quantity, which is at the basis of rapid calculations, at the same time developing an abstraction of the concepts of number and calculation, through a wide-range of specific exercises.
The programme can be used together with the material in the book and with activities which can be carried out using the printable material contained in the software.
The adult (therapist, teacher or parent) will fulfil the role of intermediary between pupil and programme: it will in fact be the adult who decides whether to use the games with an individual child or in groups, steering the child in the activity and helping with the learning process.
The book contains a programme designed for the specific treatment of difficulties with numbers and calculation. After an analysis of the difficulties related to acquiring numerical and calculation skills on a diagnostic and rehabilitative level, a series of suggestions and instructions on how to use the material contained in the software follows, so that the adult helping the child is able to establish an optimal and effective teaching programme.
