Developing verbal comprehension

This book offers a practical programme for identifying and intervening specifically in the event of difficulties in language comprehension in pre-school children.
The programme is divided into 11 units of increasing difficulty, with a variety of material aimed at stimulating verbal comprehension:
– identifying determined stimuli (words or phrases) among different pictures, with phonological, semantic and lexical distractors;
– multiple choice questions regarding temporal and cause and effect relationships;
– short stories followed by questions for practicing understanding of implicit and explicit logical relations.
The different sections cover: nouns, categories, modifiers, actions, prepositions, sentences, clitics, verb tenses, cause and effect relationships and stories. At the end of the training section there are games for consolidating the skills learnt in the previous chapters.
Over 200 practical worksheets, complete with a variety of entertaining illustrations, offer practice in comprehension on several levels of linguistic activation:
– a semantic/lexical and phonological level;
– a morphosyntactic level;
– a narrative level.
