Originating from a ten-year project the author carried out together with educators, researchers, pedagogists and teachers from all over Italy, Words unsaid is the real response to the constant plea for resources to help children prevent sexual abuse.
The situation regarding the sexual victimisation of young children has become complicated over the years, especially following the extensive exploration undertaken by minors of the web and social networks and due to digital and virtual platforms. This preventive curriculum nonetheless is still modern and bang-up to date and it is exceptionally important, particularly for digital natives.
The work comprises three parts:
– the first part describes the project’s theoretical basis and objectives, the definition, epidemiology and consequences of sexual abuse in young children and the characteristics of paedophiles;
– the second part deals with prevention in the family, providing a solid guide for parents with practical tips on how to use the coloured sheets, which are designed to be used directly by children from 5 to 8 years old;
– the third part offers an educational programme in 5 lessons to be carried out at school with children in their last three years of primary school.

It is only by being aware of the risks, that children can protect themselves and be able to prevent dangerous situations; this book will help parents and teachers to explain them how to preserve and defend the immense value of their own body and person.
