Written by a support teacher, this guide aims to address the practical aspects of inclusive activity at school through regulatory insights, theoretical insights and testimonials in the field. It describes and analyzes the value and role of the support teacher and gives indications on how to organize and structure support, so that it can be really effective not only for pupils and students with Special Educational Needs, but for the whole class. A stimulus for reflection in order to improve educational practices and create learning communities.

Three inclusive sages
The volume is divided into ten chapters, each of which tries to address one of the crucial issues of the practical aspects of inclusivity at school. Each chapter is organized in three parts:

  • The story: using narration, you follow the daily school life of a specialized support teacher who tries to adjust to a new work context.
  • In-depth study: the topic of the chapter is analyzed with theoretical-practical contents and regulatory references in order to ensure the framework within the pedagogical research and the theoretical paradigm to which it refers.
  • A word from support teachers … and suggestions: some situations that emerged from a survey carried out on a group of support teachers are examined along with the related suggestions and reflections, and sometimes even suggested activities which may be useful for overcoming the difficulties presented.
